Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and Highmark Blue Shield would like to invite all of their agents to attend a webinar to review updates for all of their existing medically underwritten products.
In addition to the updates, Highmark will be introducing additional rate tiers for their medically underwritten products that will be in effect on August 1, 2012. The new rate tier system will now allow 7 tiers of rate-ups instead of the previous 4. The new tiers will be as follows:
- Tier 1: Standard Rate
- Tier 2: 15%
- Tier 3: 30%
- Tier 4: 300% (for children under age of 19 only)
- Tier 5: 50%
- Tier 6: 75%
- Tier 7: 100%
Introducing these new rating tiers will allow Highmark to cover some health conditions that were declined in the past, creating more opportunity for approvals.
